FAQ - Product
What exactly is GraphXOff™?
GraphXOff™ offers two innovative solutions for removing vinyl, adhesive, and paint:
- Gel Formula: A 100% biodegradable, low-odor gel with a unique consistency designed to cling to vertical surfaces, allowing effective dwell time for removing vinyl graphics and paint.
- Sprayable Formula: Specifically formulated to target and remove adhesive residue left behind after completing a vinyl graphic removal project.
Both products are engineered for performance, efficiency, and environmental safety.
Is GraphXOff™ Vinyl, Adhesive and Paint Remover gel different from GraphXOff™ Sprayable Adhesive Remover products?
Yes — they’re made for two different purposes. GraphXOff™ Vinyl, Adhesive and Paint Remover gel product is designed for the heavy lifting: loosening and breaking down full vinyl graphics, decals, wraps, and even uncatalyzed paints. Its gel consistency allows it to cling to surfaces and penetrate stubborn layers, making it the go-to choice when you need to remove the vinyl or coating itself.
GraphXOff™ Sprayable Adhesive Remover, on the other hand, is formulated for cleanup once the vinyl is gone — tackling the sticky residue left behind. Because it’s cost-effective, easy to apply and spray, it’s also a handy solution for many other adhesive removal needs, such as cleaning up glue from emblems, badges, double-sided tape, and similar applications. It works quickly without harming the underlying surface, making it a versatile, everyday tool in addition to being the perfect companion to the Gel.
In short: The Gel removes the vinyl, while the Spray handles adhesive residue — whether from vinyl graphics or other adhesive jobs.
Will GraphXOff™ work on my surface?
GraphXOff™ is designed for use on vehicles and other surfaces with a properly catalyzed and clear-coated paint finish. However, we always recommend testing the product on a small, inconspicuous area before full application to ensure compatibility.
Safe Surfaces:
- Gel-coated fiberglass (with proper neutralization and cleaning after use)
- Catalyzed, clear-coated paint finishes
Not Recommended For:
- Plastics
- Uncoated fiberglass
- Painted MDO (Medium Density Overlay)
- Single-stage or uncatalyzed painted surfaces
Important Note: While GraphXOff™ is safe on gel-coated fiberglass, care must be taken to neutralize the product by thoroughly washing the area after use. Failure to do so may result in softening or damage to the gel coat or fiberglass.
Important Surface Compatibility Notice
Surface finishes can vary widely between manufacturers, particularly on enclosed cargo trailers, utility trailers, RV panels, and similar equipment. Many of these surfaces are finished with single-stage or uncatalyzed paint systems rather than catalyzed, clear-coated automotive finishes. These coatings can be more sensitive to solvents and decal removal chemicals and may react unpredictably during the decal removal process.
Because coating types are not always identifiable by appearance alone, testing the product on a small, inconspicuous area prior to full application is always recommended to confirm compatibility with the specific surface.
Required Test Spot
Before using this product on any surface, apply a small amount to a hidden or inconspicuous test area and observe the results before proceeding. This step helps confirm that the coating or substrate is compatible with the product and ensures the desired results.
Can GraphXOff™ be used on bare metal surfaces?
GraphXOff™ products can be used on metal, but care is needed with bare steel and uncoated or polished aluminum, as the finish may be affected.
1. Steel
- Safe on the metal itself, but may leave a light residue.
- If not removed, residue can trap moisture and accelerate surface rust on bare steel.
- Stainless steel is far more resistant, and no reaction is typically expected.
2. Aluminum
- Aluminum forms a natural oxide layer for protection.
- Strong cleaners like GraphXOff™ may strip or stain this layer, leaving a dull or blotchy appearance, especially on polished finishes.
Painted or clear-coated surfaces are less affected, though the coating itself may be at risk rather than the underlying metal.
3. Best Practices
✅ Always test in a small, inconspicuous spot first.
✅ Do not let the product dwell too long — wipe promptly.
✅ Rinse thoroughly with mild soap and water.
✅ If any dulling occurs, restore the shine with a suitable metal or aluminum polish.
Does GraphXOff™ work for reflective or old, sun-baked vinyl graphics?
Yes! GraphXOff™ is highly effective at removing vinyl, adhesives, and paint, including challenging materials like reflective vinyl and old, sun-baked or cracked graphics. Its powerful formula makes even tough removal projects easier and more efficient.
Will GraphXOff™ work on removing Paint Protection Film?
Yes. In most cases, Paint Protection Film (PPF) can be removed by gently warming the film with a heat gun and carefully pulling it away from the surface. Any leftover adhesive can then be cleaned up with GraphXOff™ Sprayable Adhesive Remover and an Adhesive Removal Plastic Blade.
For older or cracked films that are more stubborn, GraphXOff™ Vinyl, Adhesive, and Paint Remover Gel is an excellent solution. Because PPF is thicker than standard vinyl, you may need to allow for additional dwell time to achieve the best results.
Will GraphXOff™ take my paint off?
It might. GraphXOff™ is a Vinyl, Adhesive, and Paint Remover, so proper use and adherence to our detailed instructions are crucial to ensure painted surfaces remain safe. We always recommend testing the product in an inconspicuous area before full application.
How much GraphXOff™ will I need?
- Gel Formula: Use approximately 1 ounce per square foot of area. Measure the total square footage (length × width in feet) of the vinyl or paint to be removed and order accordingly.
Example: For 16 ft² (1.49 m²), we recommend a 16 oz. (473mL) bottle. - Sprayable Formula: A 32 oz. (946mL) bottle helps treat an average of 100 to 150 square feet (9 to 13 m²).
How long does it take to work?
GraphXOff™ activation time may vary depending on environmental conditions such as air and surface temperature. Other factors include the age and type of material being removed. Look for the vinyl or paint surface to begin “krinkling” — a visual cue that typically occurs within 15 to 45 minutes.
Is there a certain temperature I need to use GraphXOff™?
For best results, use GraphXOff™ in temperatures above 65°F (18.3°C) and out of direct sunlight.
Are any special tools required to apply GraphXOff™?
To apply GraphXOff™, we recommend the following tools:
- Natural Bristle Brushes: Ideal for applying the product evenly. Avoid nylon bristle or low-cost foam brushes, as they may dissolve when exposed to the product.
- Surface Safe Adhesive Removal Plastic Blade: This tool is perfect for assisting with gel and vinyl removal. It is chemically resistant and designed to withstand the effects of aggressive removal fluids and gels, making it a durable and effective choice for your project.
These tools help ensure a smooth and efficient removal process.
How do I get rid of the "shadow" after the graphics are removed?
Long-term decals or graphics may leave a "ghost" image on the surface. To restore the original finish, buffing, wet sanding, and/or polishing may be required. In extreme cases, reapplying new graphics in the same area may help mitigate visible ghosting.
Does GraphXOff™ work for removing paint on furniture/wood surfaces?
Yes, GraphXOff™ effectively removes paint and varnishes. After application, paint or varnish can be safely scraped, brushed, or washed away. A second application may be needed for stubborn residue. Always test on a small area before full use.
Note: GraphXOff™ is an excellent solution for removing lead-based paints. The gel encapsulates toxic lead particles, preventing them from becoming airborne for safer removal. Dispose of used gel in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Is GraphXOff™ hazardous?
No, GraphXOff™ is a 100% biodegradable, low-odor product available in both gel and spray formulas.
Does GraphXOff™ expire?
GraphXOff™ does not have a traditional expiration date and, when stored properly in its original sealed container, remains effective for years. The formulation is stable and designed for long-term performance under normal storage conditions.
However, some bottles may display a date printed on the packaging. This date refers to the container's shelf life — not the product inside. GraphXOff™ is packaged in high-quality HDPE bottles, which are commonly used for solvent-based chemicals. Over time (typically after 2–3 years), the plastic may begin to degrade due to slow product migration through the inner lining. If long-term storage is expected beyond that window, we recommend transferring any remaining GraphXOff™ to a glass or metal container to preserve product integrity.
As always, we encourage customers to store GraphXOff™ in a cool, dry place with the cap tightly sealed for optimal longevity.
Where can I get GraphXOff™ in my area?
GraphXOff™ is currently available exclusively through our website and select online distributors.
Why isn't GraphXOff™ available on Amazon?
We appreciate the question—Amazon is a convenient marketplace for many shoppers, and we understand the appeal of Prime shipping and one-click buying.
GraphXOff™ Vinyl & Adhesive Remover Gel and Sprayable is a true specialty product designed for professional-grade results on tough vinyl graphics, adhesives, reflective tapes, wraps, and more - especially on vehicles (cars, RVs, boats), signs, and other surfaces. It's not a generic cleaner, so we’ve intentionally chosen to sell it directly through our website rather than on platforms such as Amazon. Here’s why:
- Best results come from informed purchases GraphXOff™ performs best when users understand the right application technique, dwell time, surface prep, and safety considerations (e.g., testing on a small area, avoiding certain uncatalyzed paints or delicate plastics). Buying directly lets customers read detailed instructions, watch our step-by-step removal videos, and ask us questions before ordering. Amazon’s fast “add-to-cart” style often leads to impulse buys, which can result in mismatched expectations or less-than-ideal results.
- Personalized support When you buy from us, you get direct access to real people who know the product inside out. We can give tailored advice (e.g., “For old 3M reflective vinyl on gelcoat, use the gel with a plastic scraper…”), answer questions quickly, and help troubleshoot after purchase. That level of hands-on guidance is much harder to provide through Amazon.
- Quality control & reliable shipping We pack every order ourselves with extra care to prevent leaks, damage, or crushed bottles - especially important for a gel and spray product. We use tracked, reliable carriers from our location in Neenah, WI. While Amazon can offer “free” Prime shipping, those costs are most likely “baked” into the price (plus their seller fees), and we prefer to control the entire fulfillment process to ensure everything arrives in perfect condition.
- Protecting small-business fairness As a small, family-run company, we’ve heard too many stories from other sellers about large sales platform’s extremely buyer-friendly return policies - sometimes accepting returns on opened/used products, damaged items, or misuse, with little recourse for the seller. For a specialty product like GraphXOff™ that can’t always be resold after use, that risk is too high. Selling direct lets us handle returns fairly and keep the focus on satisfied customers.
We may consider Amazon or other platforms in the future if it better aligns with our product type and seller protections, but for now, selling directly allows us to maintain the quality, support, and personal touch that our customers value.
Thank you for choosing to buy from us—it really helps us keep doing what we love: making tough removal jobs easier, safer, and more effective.
Can the Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel remove large vinyl graphics?
The Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel is best suited for small-scale removal tasks such as narrow vinyl pinstripes, small decals, adhesive residue, and detail work. While it can be used on larger vinyl graphics, it is not the recommended tool for those applications.
For vinyl pinstripes wider than 1 inch (2.54 cm) or for vinyl vehicle graphics covering larger surface areas, we recommend using a heat gun or GraphXOff® Gel or Sprayable products, which are specifically engineered for safe, efficient large-area vinyl graphic removal. The Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel is intended for smaller projects where precision and control are required.
Can the Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel remove painted pinstripes or lettering?
No. The Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel is designed specifically for removing vinyl pinstripes, small vinyl decals, adhesive residue, and detail work. It is not intended for painted pinstripes, painted lettering, or painted graphics.
For painted pinstripes, lettering, or graphics that are not clear-coated, GraphXOff® Gel, when used properly and according to instructions, can be a safe and effective option for removal and may help minimize damage to the underlying surface. As with any painted surface, results can vary based on paint type, age, and condition, and testing in an inconspicuous area is always recommended.
Why did the color of the Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel change?
The color of the Stripe Eliminator® Eraser Wheel has recently transitioned from orange to a soft mint green due to updated regulatory requirements affecting certain colorants used in manufacturing.
This update reflects a move toward materials that align with more stringent environmental and safety standards. While the previous version met all applicable requirements at the time, the new formulation supports an even higher level of compliance with evolving guidelines.
Importantly, this change is limited to the colorant only—there is no impact to the performance, durability, or effectiveness of the eraser wheel. You can expect the same professional-grade results you’ve always relied on.
